Bone/Charcoal Drawing Project

This project focuses on:

• Modeling forms with Charcoal using chiaroscuro
• learning pastel techniques including textural layering of surface
• modeling forms with warm and cool colors

Assignment: Create a study of a bone using charcoal. Pay close attention to forms, trying to render them using lights and darks with chiaroscuro. Charcoal may be blended with fingers and the lights lifted with a kneaded eraser.

Then, creat a similar study of a shell, using pastel. Follow similar blending techniques but apply color to your image. Use warm colors to advance and cool colors to recede. Include a cast shadow in each drawing.
